If you are still confused as to what SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT is all about, here is another look.
This diagram gives the what the UN calls the "three
pillars of sustainable development": ECOLOGY, ECONOMY, SOCIETY.
The UN is very insistent that any solution to sustainability MUST include all three, if the program is to be effective.
A critique of the 1992 Rio Conference is that too much
emphasis was placed on finance.
Rio+20 states
that sustainability results from a green economy and the eradication of
poverty.
